The Generations Initiative – Transforming Society Through Biblical Parenthood
AACTS has a parenting program that will make the difference in this world today. If we can educate our parents, to understand the standards set up to raise their children in this chaotic world, we can make a difference. AACTS believes in Proverbs 22:6. It gives us the answer. “Train up a Child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
The Generations Initiative-Transforming Society through Biblical Parenthood is a faith based guide on how to raise your child God’s Way.
Teenage Pregnancy Prevention
A.A.C.T.S. is one of several subcontractors for Federal grants from Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) that were developed to change the teenage sexual behavior in the African American Community. The goals of the Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Initiative (TPPI) grant (2015 – 2020) are to reduce teenage pregnancy and births; reduce sexually transmitted diseases among adolescents; implement selected evidence-based curricula with fidelity; increase student bonding to schools and academic performance and to increase community awareness and support of Teen Pregnancy Prevention.
Due to outstanding performance as a subcontractor for TPPI, AACTS received additional funding from MSM to implement Project POwER (Positive Outcomes with Empowering Relationships), an abstinence-only youth development program in select communities in DeKalb County. This three-year program (2018 – 2021) will target African American middle school youth, 10 – 14 years of age. The goals of Project POwER are to increase protective factors for youth that contribute to risk avoidance, including positive relationships with family, peers, and community; reduce sexual risk behaviors (and related risk behaviors) that contribute to negative health outcomes for youth (early sexual behavior, teen pregnancy, STIs, HIV, substance use, school drop-outs, etc.).
